Psalm 46 Prayer

Read: God is our refuge and strength
a very present help in trouble.

Prayer: Lord, you are our comfort and protection.  There is no other hope that we
  have in life and death.  You are here.

Read: Therefore we will not fear though
the earth give way,
though the mountains be
moved into the heart of the sea,

Prayer: Each day the world seems a little less stable under us.  May our lives look
to You O God with courage and without fear.

Read: though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Selah

Prayer: Lord, natural disasters disturb us as climate and environments change
  over time.  Tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes among
  other events can cause for unrest.  May we hear your musical interlude as
we face suffering, loss and tragedy.

Read: There is a river whose streams
make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.

Prayer: Living water is what we seek, and You are our living water.  Flow through
our lives giving refreshment and joy.

Read: God is in the midst of her; she
shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.

Prayer: May your presence, God, provide stability and strength for your children.

Read: The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.

Prayer: So many conflicts in our world today.  Nation against nation, people
fighting for causes that they believe in wholeheartedly.  Where can we find
peace?  Where can we find rest?  It is in You, O God.

Read: The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah

Prayer: Lord, as we look for safe harbor, we see throughout history Your
faithfulness.  The protection found in Your presence is unmatched.
Though physically we fade and fall, our souls rest in Your arms.

Read: Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how He has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
He burns the chariots with fire.

Prayer: Through our inner search, may we see peace on the other side of
judgement.  You are sovereign, O God.

Read: “Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”

Prayer: Thank you for your words of comfort and peace.  May they calm my
thoughts and anxieties about the temporary state of this world in which we
live.  You are above all nations including the one in which I live.  In these
moments of silence, may you be Lord of this heart, this family, this church,
and this, Your creation.

Read: The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Selah

Prayer: Lord, as we look for safe harbor, we see throughout history Your
faithfulness.  The protection found in Your presence is unmatched.
Though physically we fade and fall, our souls rest in Your arms.
